Job Description

The Solutions Architect at ProAg will work with clients in a technical capacity to help solve their critical needs and challenges. This position is key in assisting to define client requirements for solutions including services, products, technologies and capabilities that may require hardware, software, networking, cloud architectures, communications, or other specialized knowledge in order to design, develop, and support the business needs. 

The Solutions Architect will also assist with development of models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development, and provide technical direction related to the implementation of system architecture by other staff.  This individual will be tasked with development of prototypes to prove out technology concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development, maintenance, and improve architectures, including reference/target architectures, principles, roadmaps, patterns, etc.
  • Creation of technical design documents and supporting materials.
  • Review new projects and architecture solutions, ensuring they are aligned with the enterprise architecture.
  • Stay current with emerging business and technology trends.
  • Develop an understanding of business processes, data flows, strategy and long term thinking to come up with an end-state architecture.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations for business capabilities, business process design, business intelligence design, software development design/architecture and application frameworks.
  • Regularly interface with other architects, analysts, developers, and enterprise subject-matter experts to understand and evaluate business capability needs.
  • Apply an understanding of architecture practices to articulate technology options and risk and mitigation strategies to influence decisions and project direction with leadership.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and utilize this knowledge to support and drive business decisions.
  • Lead and Participate in development of prototype solutions to support and prove business and technology concepts.
  • Lead and Participate in business and technical design workshops.

Job Requirements

Qualifications required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related discipline) required.


  • 5 - 10+ years of experience in professional software development.
  • Experience participating in collaboration activities with management teams to define business requirements and deliver solutions that meet business goals
  • Experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology

 Qualifications desired:

  • 2+ years of experience in crop insurance or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in developing .NET technology solutions (other languages acceptable).
  • 4+ years experience in developing hosted web-based software solutions.
  • 4+ years experience with SQL Server or Oracle database technologies
  • 2+ years experience with AWS or Azure Cloud Platforms
  • Knowledge of technologies such as C#.NET, MVC & SPA, Angular for .NET, Entity Framework and code first database generation, JavaScript & jQuery, CSS/HTML, TSQL and Stored Procs.
  • Knowledge of tools used in .NET Software Development (Visual Studio 2015/2017, Entity Framework Power Tools, ReSharper, Team Foundation Server, SQL Server Management Studio, SSRS/SSIS packages).
  • Moderate knowledge of Cloud Technologies and tools.
  • Experience with software architectural designs (5-Tier layers, Business Logic, Unit of work, etc.)
  • Experience with software design patterns (i.e. Repository, Factory, Dependency Injection, etc.)
  • Experience with software development processes for Agile/Scrum.
  • Experience with software requirements assessment as well as implementation of such requirements.
  • Experience with source code repositories and code check-in processes (i.e. TFS, Code Reviews, etc.)
