Job Description

Position Summary:

Under immediate supervision, the Crop Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing Crop Accounting functions that support agencies such as commission payments, billing, premium collections and refunds as well as serves as the primary contact for regional agency support.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Process crop hail and multi-peril commission payments
  • Distribute monthly commission payments and supporting documentation to appropriate agency contacts
  • Process, verify and distribute bi-monthly premium refunds
  • Process premium billing and pre-termination notices
  • Act as primary regional contact for agents, insured and others
  • Responsible for reviewing accounts and answering crop accounting questions for agents, insureds, and other ProAg departments using phone/email/letter/fax
  • Responsible for reviewing commission, billing and refund batch reports
  • Contact agent and collect premium prior to applicable termination dates
  • Ensure pre-termination bills are sent timely per Risk Management Agency (RMA) guidelines
  • Verify 1099 tax forms for assigned region and provide all related customer service support related to
  • Independently perform research for regional crop accounting issues
  • Adhere to Crop Accounting procedures (includes Risk Management Agency (RMA) publications and ProAg defined procedures)
  • Attend training meetings as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

 Qualifications desired:

  • College degree
  • General accounting experience
  • Billing experience
  • Experience in crop insurance, agriculture field or other insurance
